On Wednesday, Sahara Reporters released a report stating that the attorney general of Nigeria, the DSS as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria has been dragged to court over the refusal of the DSS to pay a judgment debt. The said court has also granted the new suit.

A document obtained from Sahara Reporters claimed that a suit was recently filed against DSS by the lawyer of Sunday Igboho due to the damages that were done to the house of Sunday Igboho by DSS.

Recall that the house of Yoruba Nation leader, Sunday Igboho was raided some months ago by DSS. In the course of the raid, different properties worth millions of naira were destroyed which include doors, cars, chairs, wardrobes, buildings, and many more.

Due to the damages were done to the properties of Sunday Igboho, a suit was filed in Ibadan, Oyo state against the DSS.

A few weeks after the review of the suit, the Justice of the Oyo state high court urged DSS to pay the sum of 20. 5 billion in damages to Sunday Igboho.

Despite the judgment, Sunday Igboho’ s lawyer, Chief Yomi Alliyu, has claimed that the Nigerian government is yet to honor the decision or judgment made by Oyo state high court.

Due to this effect, he has taken the case to a superior court with the hope of compelling or forcing the DSS to pay the judgment debt.

Also, a report from Sahara Reporters claimed that the lawyer of the DSS challenge the suit of Sunday Igboho’ s lawyer, stating that paying such an amount to anyone at this period would plunge Nigeria into high debt and crisis.

In a response to this statement, Igboho’ s lawyer, Chief Yomi Alliyu claimed that the federal government generates trillions of naira every year and over 120 billion is being allocated to the DSS for its activities, hence, the DSS has what it takes to pay to pay Sunday Igboho.

Chief Yomi Alliyu said ” Nigeria’ s budgets are in trillion naira mark in recent years. He also pointed out that the Office of the National Security Adviser under which the DSS operates gets N136billion budget annually which makes it very possible to pay only N20. 5billion. ”

” DSS claim that Igboho was a fugitive amounted to contempt of the court because the court had declared him free of any constitutional violation in the September 17 judgment. ”

He urged the court to grant the immediate prosecution of the attorney general and order the DSS to pay Sunday Igboho with immediate effect.
