The All Progressives Congress (APC) party’ s political permutations for 2023 took another turn on Saturday, according to a report by Punch, when the party’ s National Chairman, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, approved the recognition of the Progressives Consolidation Group (PCG) as a party support group in support of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The group’ s goal is to rally support for his candidacy as the party’ s presidential candidate in 2023.
The formation of this group comes a day after supporters of Tinubu, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu, formed a pro- Tinubu campaign group in Lagos on Friday.
Remember that while Tinubu was governor of Lagos State, Osinbajo served under him. To round up the study, many Nigerians believed Tinubu was the one who nominated Osinbajo to be President Muhammadu Buhari’ s Vice President in 2014.
Nigeria, on the other hand, desperately needs intellectuals at the forefront of its affairs. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for example, possesses both the scholarly and political charm necessary to control Nigeria and fix the country’ s problems.
When President Muhammadu Buhari went on a medical vacation to London in 2017, Osinbajo was in charge of the country’ s affairs, which were beset by economic issues, recession, and a drop in the value of the naira.
In sharp contrast to the President, Osinbajo took a proactive and hands- on approach. He began to demonstrate his abilities by initiating changes at the ports, which decreased corruption and made doing business in Nigeria easier.
Not content with that, Osinbajo also loosened visa regulations for visitors and investors and attended a commemoration of Nigeria’ s civil war’ s 50th anniversary.
A movement that brought Nigerians together from all walks of life, both at home and abroad. More military- turned- democrats have served as president in this country; now is the time for intellectuals to take the reins.
