Bandits and killer herdsmen are still terrorizing Nigerians and the way things are going, they are not planning to stop their attacks anytime soon.
We received reports this morning that on Sallah day, suspected herdsmen attacked Guma LGA in Benue and killed 13 people, barely 48 hours after they reportedly killed ten people.
According to Punch newspapers, the bandits first shot five people on the road who were returning from a funeral, while they killed the remaining eight at Branch Ude in Guma LGA. The two incidents happened at different times and locations.
It was also reported that a witnessed said that the herdsmen opened fire on the car of his friend, who later escaped, only for the herdsmen to block the road and open fire on a Toyota picnic.
According to Punch, the killer herdsmen kept on attacking at different locations, until they killed a total of 13 people in just one day in Benue State.
The residents of that community in Benue State are left devastated after killer herdsmen struck their town and killed thirteen people. I implore the FG to try to pacify them in any way possible.
Looking at the way the herdsmen blocked the road, attacked, and killed thirteen people, and the way they’ ve also been attacking for a while now, I don’ t think they’ re just ordinary herdsmen.
These killer herdsmen carry guns around with the intent to kill anyone who crosses their way without minding how the person’ s death will affect others. Their acts are like those of terrorists.
I think the federal government should try to solve this by banning open grazing for a while. If after the ban, some people are still going around with cows and killing people, then they are terrorists and they should be treated like terrorists.
The residents of these affected states should also try to find a pattern with which they can communicate whenever someone or a group of people threatens their safety.
Only God can truly safe us from this plight.
