Government Finally Fixes New Date For Schools Resumption Amid COVID-19 (See New Date below)

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID19, Sani Aliyu, says that the date for school resumption remains January 18 and will only change after a review by the federal government.

Recall that on Monday, January 11, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said that after the second wave of COVID19, the Federal Government would review the previous date of January 18 set for the resumption of schools in Nigeria. This was interpreted by many to mean that the resume date has been changed.

However, in an interview with TVC on January 12, Aliyu said that the date for the resumption has not changed.

“When it comes to schools, I just want to make a clarification. What the minister said yesterday was that they were going to review, he did not say that they were going to change the date. He said they will review the situation and let the nation know.

So, for the moment, it is still January 18 until the Ministry of Education returns with an alternative date or reconfirms it, “he said.
