Gunmen Kidnap UI Student, Demand N100million Ransom

A 24-year old student of the University of Ibadan, Ayodeji Emmanuel has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ibadan.

The young man was kidnapped on Monday’s evening within the premises of his father’s poultry farm when the gunmen invaded the one Oke Odan community in Apete where the poultry farm was set up.

Tribune Online disclosed that the kidnappers used the Ayodeji’s phone number to call his father and demanded N100million ransom before they can free the undergraduate student of the University of Ibadan.

Mr. Ayodeji’s incident came barely hours after the University had announced commencement of 2020/2021 academic activities which will be virtual due to COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the country.

Insecurity is taking another dimension in the student areas of the University of Ibadan and called for need to step up security apparatus in the state and beyond to make students safe and secured.

The management and Oyo State government must work together to guarantee safety of members of University community.
