According to The Guardian, gunmen abducted five members of the palace of the Owalobbo of Obo- Ayegunle, Oba Samuel Adelodun, in the Ekiti local council area of Kwara State on Thursday evening, according to the Kwara State Police Command, which verified the abduction yesterday. Among those taken hostage were his chauffeur, his security guard, his housekeeper, and his twin daughters, who were also taken hostage.
According to DSP Ajayi Okasami, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the victims were kidnapped while traveling along the Iso- Obbo- Ayegunle route when they were abducted. Okasanmi stated that the incident occurred at approximately 18: 30 hours while his vehicle, a Sienna with a Special Registration Plate Number with the inscription ‘ Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle’ , which was transporting the victims, was abandoned on the side of the road, according to Okasanmi.
As a result, he said, the Commissioner of Police had swiftly dispatched anti- kidnapping and other tactical units of the Command, as well as local hunters and vigilantes, to immediately begin a search and rescue operation in the area in order to ascertain whether the abductors were still alive and to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
It was also said that ” the Commissioner of Police desires to advise members of the public who have helpful information that will contribute in the rapid recovery and rescue of the victims to provide the command with that information. ”
Assuring the people of Kwara State that they are safe and secure at all times, the Commissioner of Police (CP) advises them to be aware of what is going on around them at all times and to avoid traveling along secluded and lonely routes at odd hours of the day.
In his remarks, Okasanmi reaffirmed the command’ s commitment to the protection of lives and the well- being of citizens. Indeed, peace and security has become a thing of the past in the country.
