Since the January 14 Supreme Court judgement that sacked Emeka Ihedioha from office as the Executive Governor of Imo State, many Nigerians are yet to come to terms with the magic which saw Senator Hope Uzodinma declared winner of the March 09, 2019 Imo State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Since then, there have been moves to get the Supreme Court to review the judgment but all to no avail.
Just recently, the move by Barrister Kingdom Okere to get a judicial interpretation of the supreme court judgement between Senator Hope Uzodinma and Uche Nwosu over the candidacy of the APCx and also get the court to mandate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Senator Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the election, and give a new one to Emeka Ihedioha as the winner. This move also failed to secure the return of Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor of Imo State.
Again, another force has emerged, seeking for the sack of Governor Hope Uzodinma, and the subsequent restoration of Emeka Ihedioha as the Executive Governor of Imo State. This time, it is coming from a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in the person of Philip Umeadi (SAN). According to the plaintiff in his suit which is already before the Supreme Court, the APC may not have fielded any candidate for the March 2019 Imo State governorship election following the judgement of the same Supreme Court which ruled that Uche Nwosu is the candidate of the APC for the election, and also disqualified him for having both the nomination of APC and Action Alliance (AA).
With the Supreme Court set to hear the case next week, many Nigerians have been wondering if they should expect another miracle judgement from the Supreme Court. Will there be another incomprehensible explanation as to how Governor Hope Uzodinma emerged as the candidate of the APC even when the same Supreme Court has it documented that it was Uche Nwosu that the Apex Court declared winner of the APC primaries? This we will get to find out come next week.
