The United States Bureau of African Affairs, in a tweet, uncovered the aim of the United States’ Government, concerning the issue of banditry, instances of snatching and Insecurity in Nigeria.
In the briefing, the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Micheal Gonzalez said the US government is ready to help end terrorism and banditry in Nigeria, only if allowed to do so.
Michael Gonzalez described the kidnapping of school children and other criminal activities in the country as barbaric and disgusting.
He said, “The US is ready to provide support to the Nigerian Government, only if requested to do so.”
“The US government is totally disgusted with the mass abduction of students in Nigeria. We are ready to help end the issue of banditry and kidnappings in Nigeria“, he added.
There’s no denying that Nigeria needs help in the fight against terrorism and banditry within the country, especially in the northern parts of the country.
However, the federal government, as directed by President Buhari has indirectly responded to the offer from the US government.
Earlier today, The NATION reported that the federal government will no longer use foreign mercenaries in the fight against Insecurity and terrorism in the country.
This was disclosed by the National Security Adviser (NSA), General Babagana Monguno (Rtd), during a ministerial briefing at the State House in FCT, Abuja.
According to Monguno, the government won’t use foreign mercenaries or military help from other countries. He also stated that Nigeria has all necessary equipment to fight the Boko Haram terrorists and achieve victory over the security challenges in the country.
He said, “It is President Buhari’s directive that we do not accept foreign mercenaries to deal with our own problems.”
“The President believes that we have all the necessary equipments and personnel to win the fight against Insecurity“, he added.
General Monguno also stated that President Buhari has charged the Armed Forces with all the necessary equipments and ammunition.
