Why Hushpuppi May Mention More Crime Suspects After He Entered A Plea Agreement With US Government

Mr. Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi who is facing criminal charges in the US recently mentioned Nigeria super cob, DCP Abba Kyari in a $1.1 million deal involving a Qatari business person.

Mr. Kyari was listed as one of the syndicates in that deal which the FBI special agent investigating Hushpuppi said was fraudulent.

Having followed this development on Premium Times and the official website of the US Department of Justice, I think that Hushpuppi may mention more crime suspects after he entered a plea agreement with the US government.

We will be discussing that in this article.

His plea agreement with the US government

Hushpuppi was charged to court less than a week after he was arrested in Dubai by INTERPOL on June 20, 2020.

He has continued to plead not guilty despite the evidence which the FBI lead investigator Andrew John Innocenti has presented base on details he obtained from his documents and his devices after he tracked them.

The American government doesn’t want Hushpuppi to face trial alone. They want everyone who has aided or conspired with him in his cybercrime business running into millions of dollars.

Hushupppi’s alleged internet fraud business include BEC, Business Email Compromise and using false pretence to receive the stimulus packages of native Americans, especially during COVID-19.

The US Attorney doesn’t want to waste time on the matter. Hushpuppi’s lawyer Louis Shapiro was able to get him a plea agreement deal with the US government on July 4.
What is this plea agreement all about?

It simply means that Hushpuppi will change his not-guilty plea to guilty and in return get a lighter sentence. Section 1343 of the US Criminal Code says it is a maximum of 20 years jail sentence. But with the plea agreement, it will be reduced.

Why would the American government enter a plea agreement with Hushpuppi?

The FBI has stated that the nature of the cybercrime which Hushpuppi and his syndicates carried out is one of the toughest it has dealt with.

The US government wants Hushpuppi to willingly give out information to them as it matches the investigation of the FBI special agent, Andrew Innocenti.

They want to track down everyone who intentionally conspired to defraud American companies and citizens. Hushpuppi will be jailed in October because he has signed to continue to plead guilty till he is sentenced.

The job of the trial judge is less in his case.

The US Attorney and the FBI special agent, Andrew Innocenti are focused on arresting more syndicates which Hushpuppi may mention in days to come.
