The men of the Amotekun security team in Osun have arrested a notorious kidnapper who confessed to have kidnapped five children in the state and transported them to Ibadan where they were killed.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, the arrested suspected kidnapper who was identified as Kasali, a middle- aged man who comes from Yemetu area in Ibadan, was arrested around Capital area, Oshogbo, Osun state.
After the arrest of the notorious kidnapper by the security operatives, he was interrogated by them on how he carried out his operation. Confessing to the crime, the arrested kidnapper said he had kidnapped five persons and he sold them to Lagos and Ibadan. He mentioned one Abija who bought some of the people from him.
Daily post reported that the field commander of the operatives of Amotekun in Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, confirm the arrest of the suspected kidnapper to its reporter.
The Amotekun commander disclosed that the corps had handed over the arrested suspect to the Department of State Service (DSS) for further investigation on the incident.
The Amotekun commander maintained, ” The suspect confessed to have abducted five children in Osogbo and transported them to Ibadan where they were killed. ”
Kidnapping has become prevalent in the country. The people and the government need to contrive to tame the scourge of the crime in the country.
Some depraved minds have taken kidnapping as their everyday work and they consider the act as a cash cow. Kidnappers kidnap for two purposes in the country. It is either they kidnap for ritual purpose or to obtain ransom from the families of the victim(s).
Kidnapping and murder are criminal offences by the law of the state. Kidnapping is punishable by ten years imprisonment according to section 364 of the criminal code act while murder is punishable by death according to section 319 of the criminal code act. Also, culpable homicide attracts death sentence according to section 221 of the penal code act.
