Nigerians have shared their mixed views after the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ ad Abubakar III sent a question to separatists and secessionists who are bent on dividing Nigeria.
The Sultan of Sokoto asked, ” If we are to go our 1 million ways, how do we survive? ”
His question comes owing to the continuous agitation for Nigeria’ s breakup by Biafran agitators and their Yoruba nation counterpart.
While speaking at the 2020 Leadership Newspaper Award and Conference in Abuja on Thursday, Muhammad Sa’ ad urged Nigerians to work together to fight insecurity in various forms, as he argued that God did not make a mistake putting together all the various ethnic groups in Nigeria.
What Sultan Of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ ad Abubakar III Said
” If we are to go our 1 million ways, how do we survive? God Almighty will and can never make a mistake, that is his will and must be obeyed.
” Bringing us together as Nigerians is not a mistake and that is what God wanted. If he wants anything else he will do it in no time, so we have to accept our religious beliefs as good Christians and Muslims. We all know we are from one source and creator.
” We have to live together as one people to face these challenges of insecurity; no one can do it alone as the commander- in- chief or the chief of defence staff. We must rise up to take the issue of insecurity as our own personal problem.
” We must all contribute to this challenge of insecurity and if we do that, in a couple of years we will be driving with our eyes closed from Kaduna to Abuja with no potholes; from Kaduna to Sokoto with clear roads and Maiduguri to Kano, that is our prayers in the next few weeks, month or years as we will get to that level. ”
Following the statement, one Bright Joseph
on Facebook reacted saying, ” The naked truth of the matter is; if this so- called Oils were in the North, do you know that they would have been long gone out of Nigeria by now? Without even thinking that it was God that put us together. ”
@Austin Imeh said, ” Dnt worry about that, the North can survive with banditry, Boko Haram and killer herdmen that u people created. Ur government then can be paying Ransom from the money generated from the north and not from the money generated from Biafra land or oduduwa republic. ”
@Chukwusom onyeosiri said, ” Survive with your population. We say no to Nigeria because it is evil. Do you know how many innocent young men and women killed by security men and those innocently in prison? Give us Biafra and take your Nigeria. We are no longer interested. ”
