The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has raised concerns about the alleged constant attacks on Northerners, especially the recent attack on Sasha’s market in the Akinyele local government area in Oyo State, resulting in loss of life. and property destruction, and he warned Northerners not to risk traveling southwest for now.
A statement from its spokesperson, Mock Kure, noted that, “The attention of the North Nigeria Youth Council has been drawn to the ongoing massacre against Northerners, particularly in the local government Sasha market of Akinyele, Oyo State, Southwestern Nigeria, where so many lives were killed or injured, shops and vehicles were burned by Yoruba thugs.
“We wish to condemn such an attack in the strongest possible terms and call on the security officers to arrest the perpetrators to act as a deterrent to the thugs.”
The Arewa youth pointed out that the hidden agenda to expel the Northerners in that segment of the country began with the call to all herdsmen (not criminal elements) by the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Rotimi Akeredolu, to abandon all Forest Reserves controlled by the State.
He explained that this led to the sudden appearance of an Igboho Sunday, a well-known tout from the car park as the Enforcer-In-Chief of the hidden but now open agenda in the far-flung state of Oyo.
The youth noted: “The eviction orders violate the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended) which guarantees freedom of movement for all citizens and the right to own movable and immovable property in any part of the country.” .
The statement noted that in his effort to uphold the country’s laws, the Inspector General of Police instructed his subordinates in the region to arrest and bring Abuja to Abuja on Sunday, saying the arm of the law has proven to be weak. and defenseless, as said wanted person has been distributing new resignation notices to law-abiding citizens and enforcing the law in many states in the region.
“We firmly believe that the inability of the government at all levels to tame the anarchic wings of Sunday Igboho and their fellow travelers has led to the emergence of their variants, hence the renewed attacks on established businessmen and many others who may ‘” I speak Yoruba at Sasha Market, “the statement explains.
The young man asked the federal government to declare the Sunday Igboho group a terrorist organization, as it is no different from Boko Haram.
They called on the Northern Governors Forum under the leadership of Barr Simon Bako Lalong to bring their colleagues together to begin evacuating their brothers who are trapped in the Southwest and other hot spots in southern Nigeria, as the governments of those regions they have proven themselves defenseless or tacitly complicit in the incessant attacks “against our people.”
The statement noted that the Youth of the North continues to maintain maximum restraint despite the unjustifiable and unprovoked attacks on its people pending the government exhausts all its letters.
He ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to mobilize resources to the market to alleviate the suffering of those who lost their livelihoods to the carnage.
The Arewa youth urged the federal government to adequately compensate those who lost loved ones and property to the crisis.
The Arewa youth also urged Northerners to desist from traveling to southwestern Nigeria as the signs from the region remain dire, waiting for the government to show that it is now safe to travel to that region.
The statement urged Nigerians with a conscience to condemn such attacks and other planned attacks, saying that together, good will triumph over evil.
