INEC Extends Voting Until Sunday In Anambra, Putting Soludo’s APGA In The Lead Early


The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is now in the lead as results from many voting units across Anambra State continue to filter in.

The ruling party is ahead of other strong competitors like as the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, according to preliminary results from several polling units around the state.


Most wards in Awka South, Awka North, Aguata, Anambra West, Njikoka, and other local governments had finished their elections as of 12 a. m. on Sunday morning, according to DAILY POST, with Soludo of the APGA ahead in most voting units.


Professor Chukwua Soludo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party are among the major contestants in the ongoing election (PDP).

So far, according to DAILY POST’ s live results, APGA’ s Soludo leads with 26082 votes, followed by PDP’ s Ozigbo with 14984 votes and APC’ s Uba with 14949 votes.

However, due to an unforeseen delay during the Saturday exercise, INEC has declared that the exercise will be continued today (Sunday).


Meanwhile, hoodlums allegedly took electoral materials meant for over 57 polling locations in several villages, causing the process to be disrupted.

The hoodlums’ activities were felt throughout Oba 1 and 2 wards, RAs, and the Idemili South Local Government Area.

On Channels Television Saturday evening, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Nwachukwu Orji, acknowledged the event.

” Part of the report we received detailing our deployment in different polling units— we were not able to conclude deployment in some polling units due to a variety of factors, ” he said. One of the reasons is that community members in several local government districts blocked us from deploying.


As a result, there is some opposition in these areas. In other instances, election materials were taken and damaged. Oba 1 & 2 wards, RAs, Idemili South LGA, for example, where materials totaling 57 polling units were stolen.
