Three seminarians who had been kidnapped from Christ the King Major Seminary in Fayit Fadan Kagoma, Jema’ a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been liberated, according to reports. When gunmen broke into the university on Monday night, they grabbed the fourth- year theology students and took them hostage.
In the course of the incident, six persons were injured and sent to the hospital for treatment. The victims have been released, according to the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, who confirmed their release in a statement issued on Wednesday.
It stated that ” with hearts full of joy, we raise our voices in a chorus of praise as we announce the safe return of our three major seminarians, who were abducted by armed men from the Chapel of the Seminary at Christ the King Major Seminary, Fayit Fadan Kagoma in Jema’ a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Monday 11 October 2021. ”
The statement added that; ” Our darling brothers were liberated by their kidnappers less than 48 hours after they were taken hostage. It is our sincere gratitude to everyone who has expressed concern and prayed for the safe release of our seminarians and others who are still held captive by their captors.
” We implore God to accelerate the release of those who are still in the custody of their kidnappers, ” the group says. According to the statement, all priests were encouraged to celebrate a mass of gratitude on Thursday in honor of the seminarians’ safe release. With the high rate of insecurity in the country, it’ s just a matter of time before the bandits cum herdsmen ruin the nation completely.
