Governor Nyesom Wike while inaugurating a road project in Etche LGA of Rivers on Tuesday, has asked President Buhari not to shift the responsibility of securing Nigerians to governors. The Governor said that as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, the president should look beyond seeking loans.
The Governor was saying this concerning what President Buhari told two southwest governors, during an interview with Arise TV. The president told the two Governors to return to their states and tackle the security challenges in their respective states.
That statement made by the president, of the federal republic of Nigeria, didn’t go down well with Wike. The Governor of Rivers state is livid that the two governors who visited Abuja to see the president, were right to have asked him to step into security challenges of state-related matters.
He feels the president owes that much to the people of Nigeria, be it state or federal. In a statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, the governor of Rivers state spokesman, Wike was also quoted as saying that the Buhari administration lacks, the strategy to restore peace actor the country.
