A man who stormed a party in Oba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State and shot sporadically to disperse the guests, had been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command.
It was gathered that the unidentified suspect allegedly
stormed the party and started shooting sporadically to disperse the guest because he saw his girlfriend with another man.
Many guest in the party sustained varying degrees of injuries as they scampered for safety, though no life was lost.
A source who spoke to our correspondent on grounds of anonymity, identified the suspect as a security operative and said that he traced his girlfriend who followed another man to the party and out of anger, he brought out a gun and started shooting sporadically when he saw his lover with another man and the party ended abruptly as everyone, including his girlfriend took to their heels.
Another source who also spoke to our correspondent, claimed that the suspect was an operative of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, while other sources alleged that he is a serving police officer attached to a police station in the area.
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, when contacted, confirmed the incident but denied the claims that the suspect was an operative of the Amotekun Corps.
However, a source in the police station in the area said that the suspect was moved to the the state police command’ s headquarters in Akure for further investigation.
Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said that the suspect had been arrested and investigation is ongoing though she could not confirm the identity of the suspect but also denied claims that he was a serving policeman.
