The Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Waste Resources, Joe Igbokwe, has reacted to the flooding and erosion in some parts of Lagos State after heavy rainfall on Friday, 16th of July, 2021.
After a heavy downpour on Friday, some parts of the state, like Lekki, Ikeja, and others, were flooded with water. The rainfall lasted for several hours, causing traffic gridlock across the state.
The flood caused a lot of damage in the state, especially on the island. Many residents argued that the flood was caused by poor drainage system and blockage of waterways.
In reaction to the development, Joe Igbokwe urged Lagosians to bear with the government, saying the flood would vanish after a few hours. Igbokwe revealed this on his Facebook page on Friday.
He said: “IT RAINED CAT AND DOG TODAY AND NO DOUBT LAGOSIANS WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH FLOODING IN SOME AREAS, BUT IT WILL DISAPPEAR IN A FEW HOURS. BEAR WITH US.”
