Jose Peseiro’s contract details have been disclosed as the new Super Eagles head coach.

Jose Peseiro, the newly hired head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has been given a one-year contract to take over the Senior Men’s National team, and the contract terms have finally been published.

The Nigeria Football Federation announced Jose Peseiro as the new head coach of the national team on Sunday, May 15.

According to recent claims from OwnGoal Nigeria, the Portuguese coach was only given a 12-month contract, and its renewal is subject to performance-related terms.

“The 12-month contract may be renewed based on performance-related stipulations.

Because of their legal struggle over compensation with previous Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, the NFF is said to have offered Peseiro a short-term contract.”

FIFA has previously ordered the federation to compensate Rohr with $380,000 for breach of contract.” The report continues.

The friendlies against Ecuador and Mexico in the United States will be Peseiro’s first matches in command.

Austine Eguavoen, the NFF Technical Director, formerly served as Interim Technical Adviser to the Super Eagles. He took the team to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where they were eliminated in the second round and failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup African qualifiers, which they lost to Ghana’s Black Stars.
