The PDP’ s leaders appear to want Jonathan to continue with the party. It’ s understood that he’ s leaving the PDP and joining another political party would be a major setback for the party. In the meantime, three politicians may have to abandon their political ambitions for the former president to remain in the party.
Jonathan has only one reason for wanting to join the APC. Some prominent members of the party visited him in Abuja some time ago, but they claimed that they didn’ t go because of politics. However, if the three lawmakers abandon their ambitions, Jonathan will be able to run for the People’ s Democratic Party ticket.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the first politician who may need to resign or refuse to run. If he runs again, it appears that no other person in the country can block the former vice president from getting the PDP ticket. In the most current election, held in 2019, he was the party’ s flag bearer.
In 2019, Jonathan did everything he could for Atiku Abubakar. Even though his popularity was waning at the time, Jonathan rallied support for the former vice president. Then, because Jonathan is still much younger than Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the powerful northern political leader could be generous enough to let Jonathan pass and win the PDP nomination.
Mr. Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, is involved in PDP- related issues. He is everywhere, and his activities lead to one particular fact: he wants to be in charge of the country’ s affairs in 2019. However, he may need to abandon any presidential ambitions he has for 2019. To make room for Jonathan, this would be required.
Wike is one of Jonathan’ s political disciples’ last remaining apostles. By choosing Wike as a minister, Jonathan helped Wike develop a national image, and he stays loyal to the former president. And, if Wike believes Jonathan should stay in the PDP, he must be willing to sacrifice his ambition (if he has any) for the country’ s former president.
Mr. Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, may have to abandon his goal. In 2019, he ran for the party ticket but was unsuccessful in his effort to represent the PDP. He appears to be making serious plans for the 2023 elections. If he wants Jonathan to stay in the PDP, he may have to yield to the former president.
Saraki and Jonathan have a close relationship, and Saraki may have to abandon his ambitions, which he may have harbored. However, Saraki’ s move would have to be contingent on Saraki being considered for certain lucrative posts.
