INDEPENDENT Corrupt Practices and other related offence Commission (ICPC) Chairman Prof Bolaji Owasanoye and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Executive Secretary Anthony Ojukwu are among 137 lawyers short-listed for conferment with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Acting Chief Registrar of Supreme Court and Secretary of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), Hajo Sarki, said in a statement yesterday that the 137 emerged at advocate filtration and an academic pre-qualification stages.
No fewer than 116 of the 137 are practicing lawyers; 21 are from the academia.
Sarki said: “The public is at liberty to comment on the integrity, reputation and competence of the candidates.”
