Mr Rosulu Idowu, Chairman of Ojo Local Government, was re-elected with 9,111 votes in Saturday’s local government election in Lagos State.
According to the Nigerian News Agency, Idowu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Oniyide Olajide, who received 1,526 votes.
Mr Segun Ege, the Returning Officer for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), announced that Idowu had been returned since he had met the election’s qualifications.
“I, Ege Olusegun Adebisi, certify that I served as the Local Government Returning Officer for the contested election held on July 24, 2021.
Mr Rosulu Olushola Idowu of the APC received 9,111 votes, while Hon Oniyide O.R Olajide of the PDP received 1,526 votes, according to the results.
“That Mr Rosulu Olushola Idowu of the APC is now proclaimed the winner of the Ojo Local Government Chairmanship Election.
“The aforementioned is hereby chosen and returned after complying with the law’s conditions and receiving the majority of votes.”
Rosulu praised Almighty Allah, the leaders of the party, and the inhabitants for the opportunity to serve a second term during his remarks.
He praised them for their faith in him and the APC, emphasising that there was no win and no defeat. “It’s a no-victory, no-victory situation.”
“We pledge to uphold the high level of trust you have placed in us, and to make you proud of your valuable votes.
He vowed to present the Council with further development projects.
