The recent killings of over one hundred (100) farmers, though were claimed by the Federal Government that it is forty-six (46) in Borno State is a saddened one. The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum was there to witness the burial of the rice farmers killed by Boko Haram on Saturday.
In his address at Makurdi on Monday, during a visit to the Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the reason for the inability of the Nigerian military to defeat terrorists is a result of lack of access to weapons.

Lai described the killings of the rice farmers as unfortunate and the fight against terrorism should not be seen as a local fight but needs the support from global partners. He was quoted as saying, “Nigerians will remain at the mercy of terrorists.” His statement has generated some reactions on social media.
