full week on the training ground this week, with the Premier League’s
winter break now in full swing.
After the goalless draw with Burnley at Turf Moor last Sunday, the
Gunners do not take to the field again until they take on Newcastle
United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, February 16, meaning
Arteta will get the chance to address any issues without the
immediate stress of a league fixture.
Arteta has a big job ahead at the Emirates Stadium, and that got
underway with drafting in two new additions before the closure of the
January transfer window last week, signing Flamengo centre-back
Pablo Mari and Southampton’s Cedric Soares, both on loan.
With that in mind, Arteta will be desperate to land some permanent
signings in the summer, as the Spaniard will no doubt look to stamp
his own authority on the squad.
Here, we round-up the day’s very latest Arsenal transfer news.
Mkhitaryan opens up on loan exit
Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that he was
‘surprised’ to leave the Gunners on loan last summer, though he knew
he had to make the move to Roma, report Sport Witness .
Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal in January 2018 as part of the deal that
saw Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United. However, the Armenia
international failed to pull up any trees at the Emirates Stadium and
was sent out on loan to Serie A back in the summer, joining Roma.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has struggled in Italy too, with
him being restricted to just 11 appearances in all competitions.
