A prominent Nigerian Lawyer, Goddy Uwazurike has made some claims regarding the suspect recently paraded by the Imo State Police Command. Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Uwazurike claimed that the gunmen attacking the South-East are foreigners and not Igbo people.
You may recall that series of attacks on security operatives and government facilities has been reported in the Southeastern part of Nigeria in recent times. It was also reported that the assailants attacked properties owned by politicians in the region.
So far, the persistent attacks in the Southeast have resulted in the killing of security officers, while government facilities were not spared from attacks by arsonists.
Nigeria’s security operatives have however responded to the development and suspects have been arrested in connection to the attacks. One of the suspects recently arrested and paraded by the police is Mr Stanley Osinachi. Osinachi was paraded by the Imo State Police Command. Commenting on Osinachi’s interrogation Uwazurike said, “You saw the man speaking on Sunday, being displayed by the police as the only surviving person among those who attempted to bomb the prisons again. The man was given an Igbo name,”
Uwazurike however claims that despite being given an Igbo name, Osinachi’s accent during the interrogation was not similar to the accent of the Igbo people. Speaking further during the interview, Uwazurike claimed that the attacks carried out in the southeastern part of Nigeria are ‘synchronized’ by foreigners and not Igbo people.
The prominent Lawyer backed his claim by saying the people in the South-East adopted the method of speaking the Igbo language to the assailants. Uwazurike claims that the assailants did not respond in Igbo language but rather responded in ‘broken English’.
