Two groups of pro- and anti-Comrade Adams Oshiomhole clashed in Abuja on Thursday as crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress [APC] over its chairman deepens.
The two groups, one demanding for Comrade Oshiomhole’s sack and the other for his retainment, engaged each other in a free-for-all.
It took the intervention of security agencies to avert what could have been a bloodbath.
Anti-Oshiomhole group arrived the scene at the APC National Secretariat at Blantyre street at were protesting before the second group landed the scene disrupting vehicular and human movement.
The two group wielded dangerous objects, big sticks, stones against themselves forcing passers-by to scamper for safety
To arrest the situation, policemen stationed on guard at the secretariat fired canisters of teargas to disperse the groups.
An eye witness said, “They came with all manners of weapons, big stones, and cutlasses, warning everybody along their way to disappear or be killed.
“We had to run for cover especially when the teargas from the security agents became unbearable.”
However, normalcy has returned to the area as security agencies have restored order.
Recall that ElombahNews, on November 21, reported that protesters thronged the APC Secretariat demanding for the immediate resignation of the party’s chairman ahead of the National Executive Council holding as at the time of publishing this report.
The report about the meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja says that some aggrieved party members from across the country besieged the secretariat demanding that Oshiomhole must quit as party henchman.
