Bashir Salihi Magashi, he is a retired Nigerian Army Major General and the current Defence Minister of Nigeria. In 1993, he was appointed as Commander of the 15 Brigade of the ECOWAS Monitoring Group. He was on of the Military Governor of Sokoto State, during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was also, a member of the Sani Abacha, Military Caucus that reviewed the military and the political situation of the country.
He is married and blessed with children, he also occasionally plays golf. In 1999, he retired from the Nigerian army, as commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State. In 2019, he was appointed as minister of Defence by President Muhammadu Buhari. He is committed to building a robust defence sector that will usher peace and security in the country. In an interview, said that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Security is a collective responsibility of all Nigerians.
