A congratulatory letter that was forwarded to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, over his reappointment suggests that the Nigeria Labour Congress has ended its rift with the Minister.

The letter that was forwarded to the minister over his reappointment was signed by the President of the NLC, Mr Ayuba Wabba.

Wabba in the letter claimed that the reappointment of Ngige is a sign that President Muhammadu Buhari has confidence in him.

He urged the Minister to steer the affairs of the ministry towards the upliftment of Nigerians from poverty, indignity and indecent work conditions.

“On behalf of my family and the NLC, I wish to congratulate you on your recent appointment by Mr. President as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“And your subsequent designation as the Minister of Labour and Employment,” he said.

The NLC leader stated that it is expected of Ngige to use the opportunity of his reappointment to promote and advance tripartism.

Wabba charged the minister to embrace social dialogue, decent work conditions and harmonious industrial relations in Nigeria.

The NLC boss wished Ngige a very successful tenure.

Recall that NLC had warned President Buhari not to return Ngige as the Minister having accused him of deliberate delay in inaugurating the board of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund for years, exclusion of Frank Kokori as the chairman of the board, among others.
