The PUNCH reports that a mob murdered a member of a vigilante organization on Saturday for allegedly uttering a blasphemous statement.

Saturday morning, it was said that members of the vigilance squad patrolling the Timber shed market at the Federal Housing Estate in Abuja planned to arrest several residents who were strolling about the market.

The villagers reportedly implored the vigilantes to release them in the name of Allah, but one of the vigilantes allegedly kicked and made blasphemous remarks.

A market merchant told our reporter in confidence that the vigilante was assaulted and stoned prior to being set on fire.
