The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, has once again directed troops to deal decisively with bandits and other criminal elements threatening the country’ s security.

His order comes a few months after he acknowledged that he was already sending bandits and other criminals to God to answer for their crimes.

Yahaya made this call on Wednesday during an operational tour of the Army’ s Headquarters 1 Division in Kaduna State.

Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army Director of Public Relations made Yahaya’ s order known in a statement on Thursday titled, ‘ COAS Tours 1 Division Area of Responsibility’ .

The statement partly read: ” Describing emerging security threats as real, the COAS directed the troops to decisively deal with bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements threatening the security of the nation.

” He urged the troops to remain committed to ensuring security of lives and property of the citizenry, maintaining that it is crucial for officers and soldiers to always cultivate cordial civil- military relations with members of their host communities and the general public as critical stakeholders and catalyst for operational success.

Recall that way back in July, COAS Farouk Yahaya who said he was working in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’ s position of treating criminals in the language they understand, added that troops have sent the bandits and other criminal elements ” to God to answer for their crimes. ”

Answering reporters’ questions on his message for the criminals, the COAS had said: ” The president said they will be treated in the language they understand. That’ s what we have started doing already and many of them have been sent to God to go and answer for their crimes. And we will continue to do that. Thank you. ”

” I want to pledge my unalloyed loyalty, on behalf of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army. We would also continue to do our very best to arrest the current insecurity, which includes insurgency and other violent crimes.

” We are already getting successes and we will leverage on that including our experience in this job and by the grace of God we will get there. “
