It’s another day of Premier action as day two of matchday 31 kickoffs in a dramatic fashion with Newcastle United defeating Burnley while West Ham defeated Leicester City.
Two matches out of the four scheduled have been completed and two others will take place later today, but let’s take a look at the highlights of the two matches played so far today.
Newcastle United shock Burnley as they cruised to a narrow win against a strong Sean Dyche’s side to take all three points at the Turf Moor. No doubt, Newcastle United were on top of their games and even when they went behind they kept pressing and their efforts paid off and earned them all three points today.
Burnley took the lead in the 18th minute of the game when Matej Vydra scored a beautiful goal to put the home team in front in the first half. The second half saw Newcastle United improving their game and scored twice in the second half, thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin which earned the Magpies all three points.
In the other fixture, West Ham United defeated Leicester City to climb to the fourth position on the EPL table at the expense of Chelsea. Jesse Lingard ran the show for West Ham as he scored twice to gift the Hammers the win while Kelechi Iheanacho’s two goals were not enough to help Leicester City avoid a defeat today.
The top four race is getting interesting as Leicester City, West Ham, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are all fighting for a Champions League spot next season. Today’s win saw West Ham United overtakes Chelsea and the blues drop to the fifth position despite their 4-1 win yesterday while Liverpool drops to 6th position as well.
