National Leader of the Niger Delta Peace Awareness Movement (NDPAM), Awo Harmony, has condemned the incessant and unnecessary attacks on the person of Dr. Hosa Okunbo and Ocean Marine Solutions Limited (OMS) for rendering selfless service to his fatherland.

Harmony, who is a Niger Delta youth leader, stated this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, while reacting to various publications on Thursday, said the attacks were deliberate efforts to discredit the good works of Dr. Okunbo in the maritime and oil and gas sectors of the nation’s economy.

He noted that only few Nigerians would go the length of OMS in adding value to the improvement of security on the nation’s maritime sector, in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.

Harmony expressed surprise that falsehood were being peddled against Dr. Okunbo all in a bid to smear his good name and reputation.

The Niger Delta youth leader said he was shocked that instead of his efforts to be applauded, he was getting condemnations, particularly from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), as regards the discontinuance of OMS operations in the Secure Anchorage Area (SAA).

He maintained that OMS as an indigenous company had remained a key player in the maritime sector based on its proven track record of distinguished service over the years as no case of fraud has been recorded against the company.

The Niger Delta youth leader urged the Federal Government and all maritime stakeholders to discountenance the alleged N263 billion payment to OMS as it is a figment of their imagination, noting that the company contributed immensely to the fight against piracy and armed robbery at sea, as well as the reduced proliferation of illegal arms importation to the country, in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.
