Niger Govt Parades Kidnapper Involved In Abduction Of UniAbuja Professors, Others

Security agencies in Niger State Government have revealed that Mohammed Ahmadu, whose house was demolished in Minna, Friday, was part of the gunmen that attacked the university of Abuja during the week and abducted some persons.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Emmanuel Umar Bagna, made this disclosure in a joint press briefing at the state police headquarters in Minna.

The suspect, who is currently in the custody of the police, the commissioner said confessed to have been the brain behind the two abduction of two UNIABUJA professors including their family members recently.

He added that the suspect during interrogation confessed to have been involved in the abduction of five other persons, adding that his confession led to the arrest of his other gang members by the security agencies in the state.

“The confession of the suspect has led to the arrest of other members of his gang. It also led to the rescue of the staff and family members of those kidnapped from the University of Abuja recently. He also confessed to have used the proceeds from his criminal activities to buy a house in Minna,” he said

The commissioner attributed the success recorded through the collaborative efforts of security agencies, while commending their efforts.

Bagna reiterated the commitment of the state government to the protection of lives and property of the people by riding the state of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

He said, ” We encourage the people to be vigilant and report every suspicious moves or persons around their communities. And their information would be treated with confidentiality.
