The Anambra gubernatorial election has taken place and is still ongoing, with INEC declaring the election inconclusive due to security concerns. INEC was unable to send voting materials to Ihiala during the election on Saturday, November 6, due to security concerns.
The All Progressive Grand Alliance’ s candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has maintained an early lead, according to the results.
Because the election in Ihiala LGA did not take place, the Results Coalition has been suspended.
The grand breaking win that the APGA is going to celebrate has elicited mixed reactions.
Ndigbo Will Repeat Anambra Feat In Imo State, Resisting APC- Adeyanju
Deji Adeyanju, a human rights activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, predicts that the voting pattern shown in the 2021 Anambra State gubernatorial election, which demonstrated opposition to the country’ s ruling party, will be reproduced in the next governorship election in Imo State.
According to JoseyWrites, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is now dominating the Anambra election, with Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP) trailing behind.
Adeyanju, who was born in Kogi State, expressed delight with the election results and implied that Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State would be voted out of office in the next election.
” This thing happening in Anambra will also happen in Imo in 2023. Igbo people will show the Supreme Court Governor that Tanko cannot save him again and that they are not slaves in there, ” Adeyanju said.
According to JoseyWrites, Uzodinma is an APC member who became governor after the Supreme Court proclaimed him the lawfully elected governor in the 2019 Imo governorship.
Even though fourth in the race and that INEC proclaimed PDP’ s Emeka Ihedioha the winner, the Supreme Court, chaired by Justice Muhammad Tanko, ruled that Uzodinma was the lawfully elected candidate in the elections after he proved election violations.
In the INEC results that were overturned by the Supreme Court, Ihedioha received 273, 404 votes, followed by Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance with 190, 364, Ifeanyi Ararume of the APGA with 114, 676, and Uzodinma with 96, 458.
Below is Deji’ s Facebook post:
” The thing happening in Anambra will also happen in Imo in 2023. Igbo people will show the Supreme Court Governor that Tanko cannot save him again and that they are not slaves in their own land. He will pay for inviting soldiers to kill his people. Keep this post somewhere safe. ”
Nigerians have taken to their Facebook handle to react towards Deji’ s post on the recent developments in the ongoing Anambra gubernatorial election where APGA’ s flag- bearer, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is convincingly leading.
Below are some of their reactions;
Facebook user Abdulkareem Opeyimi questioned the assertions of Deji saying that ” God will soon expose all of you that derive pleasure inciting crises in this Country. Same you posted that APC has rigged the Anambra election, today you’ ve changed your utterances but did you believe that some of your blindfolded followers might have reacted based on your yesterday post. God will judge you accordingly and other people like you either members of the opposition or ruling party. ”
Another user Hon Olayemi Idris had to respond this way;
” The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, David
Lyon was declared winner of the Bayelsa State Election but the PDP man won in court
PDP members, opposition and wailers were happy and applauded the court for doing what that
In another state, INEC declared PDP candidate Emeka Ihedioha winner of Governorship elections in Imo State but the APC candidate won in court
Same PDP members, opposition, Cashtivist, Soro Soke criminals, Home Economics analysts and Experts and wailers were sad.
In fact, they condemned the same court that gifted them Bayelsa but gave another party Imo
If Hope Uzodinma is a Supreme Court Governor, then what is Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa state?
The mixed reactions continued as Idriss Gifted said;
” Continue deceiving Igbo to continue being irrelevant in Nigerian politics. No region in Nigeria that played one- party politics apart from them and is coursing them a lot of damage. North welcome both parties for them to always be relevant likewise West but you people have been deceiving them to vote for one party (PDP) and you never for once give them reasonable position to contest. ”
Dare Oni said that ” Even Hope knows very well that in the middle of a crisis you need to stand by your people nit to die no matter what …. . but He chooses politics over the yearning of his people…it’ s going to be a protest vote against Hope. ”
How Hope Uzodinma Became Imo State Governor Via The Supreme Court Judgment
Recall that the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as governor of Imo State was declared null and void by the Supreme Court in January 2020.
Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was proclaimed the victor of the March 9 governorship election in the state by the Supreme Court.
The top court agreed that results from 388 polling units were unjustly excluded during the collation of the final governorship election result in Imo State, according to the unanimous ruling of the seven- member panel, read by Justice Kudirat Kekere- Ekun.
With the results from the 388 polling units combined, Justice Kekere- Ekun said Mr Uzodinma polled a majority of the legitimate votes and should have been proclaimed the election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
After adding the results from the 388 polling units, the judge did not provide the details of the new votes scored by each of the candidates.
As a result, she nullified and set aside Mr Lhedioha’ s victory in the 2019 governorship election in the South- East state.
The court directed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revoke the certificate of return that was wrongfully or unlawfully issued to Mr Lhedioha and issue a new one to Mr Uzodinma as the state’ s elected governor.
Justice Kekere’ s statement read in part;
” Vote due to the appellant Senator Hope Uzodinma and the APC from 388 Polling Units were wrongly excluded from scores ascribed to the appellant(to them), ” the justices ruled.
” It is thereby ordered that the appellant votes from 388 Polling Units unlawfully excluded from the appellant vote declared shall be added and that the first respondent, Emeka Ihedioha, was not duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast at the said election. ”
” His return as the elected governor of Imo State is hereby declared null and void and accordingly set aside
” It is hereby declared that the first appellant (Mr Uzodinma) holds the majority of lawful votes cast at the governorship election held in Imo State on March 9, 2019. ”
Mr Uzodinma has met the constitutional qualifications for governorship, according to the judge.
” It is hereby declared that the first appellant, Senator Hope Uzodinma, is the winner of the governorship of Imo State held on March 9, 2019.
” The certificate issued to the first defendant (Mr Ihedioha) is hereby withdrawn. “
