The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has joined other important an popular Nigerians to put his voice to support the call for an end to the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police Force.
Thousands of Nigerians across major cities and states have staged several protests to calm for an end to police brutality and injustice. The sustained protests have attracted people from all walks of life. And Pastor Adeboye is the latest elder statesman and clergyman to add to the call.
In a series of tweet Pastor Adeboye threw his weight behind the protesters calling for an end to police brutality. But the revered pastor could do better than that.
Actually, both online and offline protests are good, but Nigerians need people like Pastor Adeboye on the street to join and motivate Nigerians who are protesting.
There are two options before the revered pastor. He can mobilise his own church members to stage a protest. Probably, this will make the president look into the matter quickly. The RCCG has millions of members across the country.
Another option is that the pastor can visit the president and table some demands on the matter before President Muhammadu Buhari. The good news is that Pastor Adeboye has a good relationship with the president. So, it will be easier for the pastor to have a meeting with the president.
If the president and the pastor meet, Pastor Adeboye can frankly talk with the president about the matter. And hopefully, the president will listen and heed to whatever Adeboye has to say.
