On Saturday (12th June 2021), which marked the democracy day celebration, Nigerian youths in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, and other states took to the protesting against the current state of the nation.
The protest was organized due to extrajudicial killings, kidnappings, and others problems.
If you can recall a few days ago, over 80 people have been killed in Kebbi State and over 60 people were killed yesterday in Zamfara.
One might asked why people from Igbo states (Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi state)? Find your answer based on my opinion below;
The reason these states for Southeast shunned June 12 protest is that, they did not believe in one or united Nigeria.
Some Yoruba groups took to the streets to celebrate Late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, an indigene of Abeokuta, Ogun State, who were alleged to have been murdered in 1998.
Another reason why Igbos did not celebrate democracy day is because late Abiola came from Yoruba region.
