It’ s no longer news that the Eastern Security Network camp in Imo State has been raided by the police.
It was also reported that a police woman abducted by the gunmen was rescued.
However, I think the recent development is a sign that the end of the unknown gunmen who have become a thorn in the flesh of our security men is coming soon.
If you can recall, some few months ago the commander of Eastern Security Network Ikonso, was killed by security operatives while the ‘ dragon’ who allegedly took after him was neutralized on Sunday.
Panic- stricken residents of Amii- Akabo in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State fled their community on sighting a heavily armed security team comprised of the Army,
Police and Nigerian Air Force operatives who stormed the area to dismantle one of the camps operated by the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Eastern Security Network (ESN).
A suspected member of the proscribed group, Osinachi Stanley, earlier arrested by security agents led troops to the camp, according to reports.
A community source told newsmen that no fewer than 10 houses were destroyed by the security operatives during the operation adding that ” as I speak to you now, our kinsmen are on the run. ”
He also disclosed that a female police inspector held captive at the camp was rescued alive.
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bala Elkana, while confirming the operation said riffles stolen by the hoodlums in previous attacks on security personnel and formations were recovered.
Going by the number of unknown gunmen that have been eliminated so far, it’ s safe to say that the Nigerian police force and the army have all it takes to tackle the insecurity in the country.
And I think every well- meaning Nigerian should be happy, and proud of our gallant officers because we’ re finally getting the upper hand against our enemies who are hellbent on making our country ungovernable.
So far two commanders of the criminal group have been killed, which to me is a great achievement and I’ m certain that very soon the remaining members of the group will be flush out.
