Opinion: How Was Sunday Igboho Planning To Get To Germany Since His Passport Was Seized By The DSS?

Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has reportedly been arrested in Cotonou, capital of Benin Republic, on Monday Night according to The PUNCH. The Yoruba nation agitator was arrested at an international airport in Benin Republic.

PUNCH reported that Sunday Igboho was arrested while he was trying to travel out of Benin Republic to Germany. The source also stated that he would be extradited back to Nigeria on Tuesday. Recall that Igboho was declared wanted by the Nigerian Department of State Services (DSS) for illegally amassing and stockpiling weapons in his Soka residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Indeed, there are some things that happened during Sunday Igboho’s recent arrest in Benin Republic that deserves to be scrutinized. First, how did Sunday Igboho get to Cotonou in the first place since his passport was reportedly seized by the authorities who raided his apartment? Below are the pictures of passports (including Igboho’s) that were seized during the DSS raid.

Secondly, PUNCH reported that he was arrested while trying to flee the country to Germany. Now one would wonder how he was planning to flee from Africa when his passport was not with him? Does this mean that he has illegal means of bypassing immigration officers without his international passport?
