A youth leader in the Ububa Nkpor community, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Mr. Okafor Muozue (a.k.a. Osama BinLadin) was allegedly assassinated in his house in the early hours of Sunday by unknown gunmen.
According to Daily Independent investigation, the deceased had prior to his untimely death, gone to console with the family of his god-father, Mr Linus Okoye, who on return from early morning church service, slumped and died.
Impeccable family sources told Newsmen that shortly after the youth leader arrived at his house after the condolence visit, he started presiding over a matter brought by two rival families who were represented by a man and a woman.
The sources which pleaded anonymity in giving a graphic account of how the incident happened stated that, “they were two armed men in police uniform but they put on military caps”.
“They drove through the back route and packed their car at a distance”
“Ab initio, as they were coming, we thought them to be law enforcement agents that normally come on routine checks against hard drug addicts that relax in the nearby bush and enjoy themselves.
They both well-armed with AK47 rifles and as they approached us we greeted them and others who felt they need not near them fled”
“The duo armed men made straight to the deceased house where he was
presiding over the said matter and at a close-range shot him severally on his head, body, heart, and shoulder to ensure he died instantly.
The shooting and sound of the gun forced the woman and the man he was
presiding over their matter as youth chairman of the community, to run for their dear lives”
“The man scaled the perimeter fence in the compound and had fracture while scores sustained various degrees of injury sequel to stampede.
We now live in fear of uncertainty, we have not witnessed this type of thing here. Their interest was just to kill him”.
When the Daily Independent arrived the scene, more than four police vehicles
were seen and the corpse was put in their pick-up van and whisked away.
Contacted on the incident, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Mark Ijerafu said he was in Abuja on official assignment.
Also when the Ogidi Police Area Commander was contacted on phone he
said, “my friend don’t you know the procedure, off my line I beg you”
