The People Democratic Party (PDP) Governor’s Forum held a one-day consultative meeting in Ibadan, Oyo state capital earlier today. At the end of the meeting, the Forum issued a communique where they call out the President Mohammadu Buhari’s All Progressive Congress (APC)-led federal government to take action on the worsening insecurity and weakening economic challenges that have been buffeting the country.
The meeting was chaired by RT. HON. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto state, had eleven governors and one deputy governor physically present.
Here are the summaries of the five demands issued from the communique by the PDP Governors Forum:
- The federal government should send Executive Bill to the National Assembly to amend the Nigeria constitution as per the devolution of power concerning the security arrangement of Nigeria.
The President should summon an immediate meeting of the Nigeria Police Council.
The Forum supports the earlier position taken by Nigeria Governors Forum, Northern Governors Forum, and just recently Southern Governors Forum on the adoption of ranching as the solution to herders/farmers conflict.
- The Forum enjoined all Nigerians to work in peace and harmony while calling out the APC government to de-escalate the tension in the country.
The Forum reiterates its earlier call for the National Assembly to quickly pass the Electoral Act.
It is heartwarming to see that those in the position of authority are now seeing the need to take action to salvage Nigeria from the claws of those that have wicked intentions against the country. Let’s hope and pray that the president will see the reason that the best time to restructure the country is now.
