A Lagos-based politician and Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe has taken to his official Facebook page to mock the main opposition party, PDP in Lagos.
He wondered why the party has not started preparing for the local government elections that are scheduled to hold on July 24. He asked mockingly “is PDP still in Lagos – no banners, rallies, and campaigns?”
Recall that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, on Wednesday released the timetable for election in the 20 Local Governments and 35 Local Council Development Areas of the state.
The LASIEC chairman, Ayotunde Phillips, had earlier told all the political parties to begin the campaign by April 30 and end it on July 22. However, it seems the ruling party APC is the one warming up for the exercise.
Meanwhile, Joe Igbokwe has attributed development recorded in Lagos over the years to the solid foundation laid by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The 65-year old politician stated this while speaking with BBC News Pidgin on Wednesday. He said Lagos is the only place where PDP remains silent since 1999 as a result of Tinubu’s great leadership style.
I think Local Government elections in Nigeria have been reduced to nothing but a fraud. The results are out before the election. So, no need of wasting time and money.
