A protest has ensued at the Mararaba to Nyanayan road which links Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Nasarawa State. An eyewitness at the protest scene however revealed the genesis of the protest to the Press during an interview.
Many motorists and travellers were left stranded around the Mararaba-Nyanayan area as angry youths, motorcycle riders, and other transport workers blocked the road over a decaying corpse under the bridge. A visit to the protest scene revealed how the development has since resulted in road traffic.
Narrating the genesis of the protest, an eyewitness said, “Someone died on the road more than three days ago and the corpse has been left here. However, shortly after the incident occurred, security operatives visited the scene and took photographs of the corpse yet they haven’t made any comment.”
Speaking further, he added, “Instead of evacuating the corpse, security officers have been arresting motorcycle riders in the area.”
The protesters say that the decaying corpse is posing a health hazard to them and passengers around the busy road that links Abuja to Nasarawa state.
