Remind Buhari to focus on equitable distribution of political positions – Ohanaeze youths to British govt

Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC) has called on the British government to remind President Muhammadu Buhari that the idea of setting up Henry Willink’s commission in 1958 was to include all parts of the country in the affairs of the nation and to focus on equitable distribution of resources and political positions.

The group said this explained the very idea which encouraged the establishment of the Federal Character Commission.

While describing the forthcoming 2023 presidential election as an ‘avoidable trap’, the group said if the Southeast is denied the APC and PDP presidential tickets, the rest will be history to the political survival of Nigeria.

OYC stated this in a release made available to DAILY POST by the National President of the Council, Igboayaka O Igboayaka in Owerri, Imo State.

It explained that it does not make sense that northern political profiteers are indirectly behind the South-South and Southwest aspirants while they still hold tight to their ambition to retain power beyond 2023.

The group said the perceived ongoing ploy by the Nigerian government to deprive the Southeast region of what is duly theirs may sink the foundation of Nigeria’s existence.

The statement reads, “This plot is a mere divide and rule strategy of the North so they can retain power but this will surely sink Nigeria if they fail to put their desperation in check”

While reacting to the said political antics, the group which met with Igbo politicians and influencers maintained that any Southeast politician that succumbs to this conspiracy to support the North will be denied a voice among the Igbos.

”Such a person no matter how highly placed in Nigeria will suffer the potency of the elders’ rain of curses. We hereby warn those obvious saboteurs to refrain from their actions.

“The obvious reality from all quarters in the South East suggests that it’s either 2023 Presidency or the agitation for an independent state of Biafra will be embraced by those who are yet to join the movement. It will be a conviction that Igbos are not wanted in Nigeria and that is why 2023 is a TRAP to Nigeria Government and our foreign friends are watching with keen interest.”

The release further read” Nigeria is presently a glasshouse considering its protracted challenges and those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stone using the 2023 Presidency as a catalyst. The Nigerian federation is living in a glasshouse. The youths of the Southeast who constitute the new generation are passionately using this medium to address the issues of inequality in Nigeria.
