Adamawa State government has lamented over the shortfall of classrooms for primary school pupils and students in the junior secondary schools allegedly caused by the negligence of the preceding administration in the state.

Speaking with journalists in the state capital, Dr Salihi Ateequ, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), noted that there is a need for the construction of new classrooms in the state for smooth delivery of education to the young children.

According to Ateequ, the state has fallen short of 9,000 classrooms across schools across 21 LGAs in the state.

He noted that the state Education board only began to function well after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri step on the leadership. Naija News understands that Ateequ was appointed to lead the Adamawa education board just two months ago.

He noted that in a bid to address the short of classrooms, the board has commenced construction of 1,800 classrooms with the 2018/2019 UBEC intervention funds. Ateequ further explained that the schools’ capacity expansion effort would be heightened as the board is looking at ensuring the 9,000 classrooms are ready before the next three years.

The ADSUBEB chairman announced also that Adawama State government had commenced a school radio programme by which digital lessons will be delivered to pupils.

Meanwhile, the   (WAEC) has disclosed that 1,549,731 Nigerian students are expected to sit for the 2020 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
