After months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, states in Nigeria are set to reopen schools, especially the lower levels; primary and secondary schools.
The Lagos government announced that both primary and secondary schools in the state will tentatively be reopened on Monday, September 21 while all tertiary schools will resume on Monday, September 14.

In Ogun state, Governor Dapo Abiodun has also announced the reopening of all schools . The governor fixed September 21 for the commencement of academic activities in the state.
Meanwhile, the federal government has also approved the full reopening of schools across the country for the commencement of the new academic session.
The national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, gave the directive at the PTF briefing on Thursday, September 3.

Aliyu, who directed the schools to conduct a risk assessment, said the reopening would be done in phases.

However, the intensified plans to reopen schools by the government has attracted hilarious reactions by some Nigerian students on social media, Twitter particularly.

For instance, a Twitter user, @blaqbouiy, created a hilarious scenario of what may transpire between him and his lecturer when school reopens.

The tweet:”Lecturer: so I have sent you people my handout during the coronavirus break, and am sure you all are prepared and know you have a test now.

“Me: this man is a joker( in my brain)

Lecturer: get a sheet of paper, Question number 1.

Another Twitter user, Muheez abiola (@Muheezabiola) hilariously asked students to get from him a copy of a book titled How To Graduate Without Going Back To School.

Here is another funny tweet by Harrison Chinedu (@Harrisonchined3) that can get you rolling on the floor (note: the tweet has been edited a little to aid understanding:

“If the lecturers want school to resume, they should go on and resume, after all, football resumed without fans, so they can resume school without students.

“As for me, I can’t leave this mosquito coil am selling to start school again when I don’t remember my handwriting #schoolsreopening”
