Dustin Higgs has been executed in the early hours of today Saturday January 16 2021. He was convicted for killing and murdering three women in Maryland. The incident happened in 1996.
His last words today before his execution by lethal injection was ” I’d like to say I am an innocent man”. He also mentioned all the women involved and said he didn’t order their murder.
His execution is the 13th execution since the US justice department reintroduced the death penalty.
The three women who were killed were Tamica Black, 19; Tanji Jackson, 21; and Mishann Chinn, 23.
The case was a federal case because it happened on the Federal territory Patuxent Wildlife refuge in Maryland.
The case was a highly controversial case because Dustin wasn’t the one that directly killed the women. It was alleged that he Masterminded and ordered the Killing of the women. The person who killed the women was in fact Willis Haynes. Willis was sentenced to 45 years in prison without the option of Parole.
On the night of the murder it was alleged that Higgs and his friends had invited the women Jackson, Tamica and Chinn to his apartment. He wanted to make advances towards Jackson but she wasn’t having it. At the end of the day he offered to take them back home but instead they pulled over, he gave a gun to Willis and ordered him to shoot the three women.
For over 17 years the case has been on appeal but the execution was finally carried out today.
I think this is a case of an innocent man killed for a crime he didn’t commit. In 2012, Willis Haynes the killer pointed out that Dustin never threatened him to kill the women and that Dustin wanted them alive.
If Dustin didn’t shoot the women and didn’t coerce Haynes into Killing the women, then why was he killed?
It might never be found if he was innocent or not. The Dead cannot speak for themselves.
