President of the Senate of Nigeria Bukola Saraki is 58 years old today and our hearts are filled with uncountable joy.
Born in 1962, Saraki grew up in London, United Kingdom. The name of his father was Olusola Saraki who was a Senator in the Second Nigerian Republic.
(It was in London where Bukola Saraki was born and raised)
Bukola Saraki was raised by his mother, Florence Morenike Saraki even during those times his father was still alive.
Saraki never knows he will become the President of the Senate of Nigeria because he worked as a medical officer at Rush Green Hospital, Essex, from 1988 to 1989 and he was a director of Société Générale Bank (Nig) Ltd from 1990 to 2000.
For his education, young Saraki attended the King’s College, Lagos, where he graduated in 1978. Then, He attended Cheltenham College, a public boarding school in the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1981.
Bukola Saraki ran for Governor of Kwara State on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) defeating the incumbent Governor Muhammed Lawal of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). On 29 May 2003, he was sworn into office and was re-elected in 2007.
Bukola Saraki ventured fully into politics when President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as Special Assistant to the President on Budget in 2000.
In case you don’t know about his wife, his wife’s name is Toyin Saraki (née Ojora) and they have four children together.
