Armed bandits have attacked Tureka local government area of Sokoto state killing six people and abducting scores, Saharareporters reports.
According to reports, the bandits struck in the early hours of the morning despite military air strikes going on in the region at the moment. They reportedly deceived residents to come out of their homes through the muslim call for prayer.
In a solidarity message, deputy Governor of the state condoled with the residents and promised the state government will take care of the medical bill of all injured persons.
In a related development, Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly attacked another settement in Borno state, North East Nigeria.
The insurgents reportedly attacked late in the night killing an unspecified number of civilians and military officials.
A source in the community told newsmen, ” They came with heavy machine guns and trucks and dislodged the Nigerian troops of Operation Hadin Kai stationed in the community. ”
” They stormed the town around 10 pm last night (Sunday) and was in charge till 6 am this morning, many people including military operatives were killed by the terrorists. We can’ t ascertain the number of casualties now, ”
Meanwhile, social media users have reacted to the incident. Timothy Weah wrote, ” Why is it that the northern region in this country is still the most troubled zone despite the fact that they control almost every important area of government at the moment. ”
Another social media user Chibuike Donald wrote, ” The last time we heard good news in Nigeria was in 2015, since then it’ s only bad news everywhere. ”
Samuel Penom said, ” When their leaders are romancing bandits and making them feel like it is a legal business, then why won’ t this type of things be happening. It’ s all the the fault of thier leaders. ”
