It was reported earlier that a young man in Plateau State, identified as Danladi Atagan, was apprehended after he murdered his brother over their father’ s demise.
Danladi was picked up by police operatives, later being charged to court in the state capital, Jos, after he stabbed his brother, Timothy, to death, later cutting off his head.
At the Jos High Court, one charge of culpable homicide was leveled against him. The presiding judge, Justice Arum Ashoms, directed that the suspect be kept in prison, adjourning the case until the middle of next month for further trial.

However, Danladi denied killing his brother, pleading not guilty to the charge. However, the counsel for the suspect’ s prosecution, Mr. Pam Luka, informed the court that Danladi had earlier confessed to the murder of his brother.
As written in a confessional statement to the police, which was tendered as evidence in court, the suspect had murdered his brother because his brother (Timothy) said that he had used witchcraft to kill their father.

In December of last year, their father had taken ill with an undisclosed ailment. Despite being admitted to the hospital, he gave up the ghost. As soon as Timothy got the news of their father’ s death, he ran away from the house.
24 hours later, Timothy went back to the house. He was beaten up, however, and when he was questioned, he confessed to the murder of not just his father, but also his niece.
Danladi said in his statement that he flew into a rage upon hearing what his brother had done. Picking up a knife, he stabbed his brother with it, and when he slumped to the ground, he cut his head off.
The hearing continues next month.
