During the Anambra state election today the sixth day of November, 2021, different people in the state did not come to vote.
Most of them embarked on what the political scientists called political aparty and this was to show that different people have lost interest in the election.
Meanwhile, during the electioneering process as recorded by Vanguard news, some card readers that the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission was using were malfunctioning.
It was gathered that the card reader did not capture some prominent politicians in the state and this led the INEC to extend the election till Sunday, the seventh day of November 2021.
In another development, the Independent National Electoral Commission have explained various reasons why they extended the Anambra state gubernatorial election till Sunday, the seventh day of November 2021.
This was contained in a press statemen issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission resident commissioner in Anambra as recorded by and published by Vanguard news, Daily post and other news channels in Nigeria.
While interviewed by the press, the INEC resident commissioner, Honourable Ukachukwu Orji said:
The reason why we extended the election till Sunday the seventh day of November 2021 is because of the low turnout of voters in Anambra State.
Continuing with his speech, he said:
Another reason why we extended the election till Sunday is to
enable the voters to participate in the exercise so as to avoid the avoid the disenfranchisement of eligible voters in the state.
We extended the election till Sunday because of some technical issues encountered by the INEC staffs in using the card readers because some people have not been captured with the electronic device due to some Network issues.
In a similar development, he said:
We have encountered different challenges during this electioneering process and we are sorry for the inconveniences it has caused different people in the state.
People should come out tommorow being Sunday and cast their vote as we are making efforts to tackle the issues that is delaying the election.
