Today, according to the information gathered by Punch Newspaper, it has unveiled what Prof Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State did for the families who lost their beloved ones to insecurity.
It was revealed that Prof Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, led a delegation to Kaduna on Wednesday to pay condolences to the family of late Brig- Gen. Dzarma Zirkushu.
Zulum met with the family at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna, where he ordered the rapid release of N20 million in support for the murdered General’ s family.
Malam Isa Gusau, the governor’ s spokesman, acknowledged the help in a statement, saying it will go to the families of troops killed with General Zirkushu.
The Governor paid a visit to General Zirkushu’ s family alongside Borno’ s three senators, Kashim Shettima, Mohammed Ali Ndume, and Abubakar Kyari; the APC State Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori; and two House of Representatives members, Dr Haruna Mshelia and Ahmad Jaha, who both represent constituencies that include Chibok, where the late General Zirkushu was commanding the 28 Task Force Brigade, and Askira- Uba,
Kaduna State’ s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, and the Nigerian Army’ s One Division’ s Garrison Commander, Brigadier General T. Opuene, greeted Zulum at the airport.
In the meantime, the Kaduna State Government announced a N2 million payment to the victim’ s family.
Soon after Governor Zulum paid N20 million to the family, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced the gift.
Kaduna’ s assistance, according to Aruwan, was intended to complement Borno’ s efforts to reach out to the late General’ s grieving family.
On behalf of the family and the Nigerian Army, Garrison Commander Brigadier General T. Opuene thanked the governor and his entourage for coming all the way from Maiduguri to see the family.
